Recipe: Coffee Cake

This is almost the only coffee cake we use anymore. I think the sour cream gives it all of creaminess…..its way yummy! The recipe is from the Davenport Hotel…we are not taking credit for it, its too good to steal!

1 Cup Butter, softened
2 Cups Sugar
2 Eggs
1 Cup Sour Cream
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
2 Cups Flour
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Chopped Walnuts
2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
2 Teaspoons Brown Sugar

Preheat oven to 350. Cream butter and Sugar in a mixing bowl. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla. In another bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until batter is smooth. Put half batter in a greased 9-inch round cake pan.

Combine all of the topping ingredients and sprinkle half over the batter. Cover with the rest of the batter. Sprinkle with remaining topping.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
