The destruction of the other day

Just the other day Lily went into her room and shut her door, just like she normally does when she wants to take a nap. So I decided it would be the perfect time to paint a wall in our living room. Aiden “helped” me by watching. About half an hour later and almost done painting Lily came down the stairs in her white Easter dress. She walked over to where I was to show me the black sharpie marker all over her legs.

At this time I was done painting, I went into the kitchen to wash the paint brush. As I started to wash the brush I saw Lily roller body along the newly painted wall (remember she is in her white Easter dress). The paint was not coming off the brush or now even my hands. That’s when it hit me that the paint was oil based unlike all of our other paint. I texted Eric with my only finger that did not have paint it, to see if we had any paint thinner. He texted me back and said we did not.

So I decided to call Eric’s Grandma that lives really close by to see if she had any. And sure enough she did and she was bring it over. I wondered upstairs to see where Lily got the marker as I was waiting for the paint thinner. In the office I found 5 sharpie markers with the cap off with post it notes all over the room with some marks on them from the sharpie marker. Stamps were plastered on walls like stickers. I went into the master bedroom to find an empty box of matches and matches all over the floor. On the other side of the bed was a bottle of vitamins poured on the floor.

Just then the door bell rang and it was Grandma with the paint thinner. I was finally able to wash my hands! The next step was to count the vitamins…thankfully it was a fairly new bottle and turns out she did not eat any!

I  learned my lesson never trust that your child is sleeping!
